From developing a custom knitwear collection to purchasing a single cashmere accessory: discover our services and find the solution that best suits your business.
When people think about Italian knitwear manufacturing, they often imagine factories producing large quantities, with high minimum order requirements and services reserved exclusively for established fashion brands.
At Due Toscani, we have chosen a different approach.
We manufacture knitwear and accessories in cashmere, recycled cashmere, extrafine merino wool and other premium fibres, entirely in Tuscany, within the Prato textile district and through our specialised partner workshops.
More importantly, we have structured our business to offer several ways to work with us, whether you represent an established fashion brand, run an independent boutique, manage an online store or are just starting your own business.
You can commission your own collection, choose from our existing designs, purchase a few items to test the market or sell our products without holding inventory.
Let's explore all the possibilities.
1. Private Label Knitwear Manufacturing: Your Collection, Your Brand
One of our main activities is manufacturing knitwear and accessories for other fashion brands.
Our private label manufacturing service allows boutiques, companies, designers and emerging brands to sell Italian-made products under their own labels.
We offer two different approaches.
Choose Designs From Our Existing Collection
The first option, generally the simplest and most cost-effective, is to select designs we have already developed.
Our collection includes men's and women's knitwear, as well as a wide range of accessories.
Available products include:
- Crewneck sweaters, V-neck sweaters and turtlenecks
- Cardigans and oversized knitwear
- Ribbed knitwear, cable-knit designs and special stitch patterns
- Garments manufactured using seamless and Integral technology
- Beanies, scarves, neck warmers, gloves and other accessories
- Designs in virgin cashmere, recycled cashmere and extrafine merino wool
Customers can select designs, available yarn compositions, colours and sizes, and customise the products with their own labels and, where technically feasible, embroidery or other details.
The main advantage is that there is no need to develop a new design from scratch. The knitting programmes already exist, and the garments have previously been developed and tested.
This simplifies production, reduces initial development costs and helps shorten the time required to launch a collection.
Minimum Order Quantities
Our standard minimum order quantity for private label manufacturing is 50 pieces per design.
For knitwear, these 50 pieces can be divided into up to 4 colours and 5 sizes. For accessories, up to 8 colours are possible.
For example, a brand can order 50 sweaters of the same design, distributing the quantity across different sizes and colours, without having to purchase 50 pieces of each variation.
This is particularly attractive for independent labels and emerging brands looking to introduce an Italian-made collection without committing to hundreds of garments per colour.
2. Custom Knitwear Development: From Your Idea to the Finished Product
Not every customer wants to use existing designs.
Some have their own projects, sketches, technical specifications or simply a reference photograph.
In these cases, we offer a custom knitwear development and manufacturing service.
Our work involves much more than placing yarn on a knitting machine and producing a sweater.
Before manufacturing begins, several technical aspects must be considered:
- Technical feasibility of the design
- Selection of the most suitable yarn
- Knitting machine gauge
- Stitch structures and knitting techniques
- Garment proportions, measurements and fit
- Yarn consumption and finished garment weight
- Finishing processes and garment behaviour after washing
- Production times and manufacturing costs
How a New Design Is Developed
The process begins with an analysis of the customer's project.
If the design is technically compatible with our machinery, we proceed with programming, prototype development and the necessary technical evaluations to prepare the garment for production.
We use Shima Seiki electronic flat knitting machines, including Integral technology, which allows us to manufacture specific garment constructions with fewer seams when technically feasible.
Not every design can be manufactured using the same technology, and not every photograph can automatically be converted into a knitting programme.
This is why technical evaluation is an essential part of the process.
How Much Does It Cost to Develop a New Design?
Our standard development fee is €350 per new design.
This includes technical assessment, knitting programme development, prototype creation and the optimisation work included in the development process.
The manufacturing price is calculated separately, based on the final design, yarn composition, knitting complexity and order quantity.
The standard minimum production quantity for custom-developed designs is also 50 pieces per design.
It is important to understand that developing a new garment requires time, expertise and technical work. It is not simply a matter of producing a free sample.
Can You Reproduce a Sweater Exactly From a Photograph?
A photograph can be an excellent starting point, but it does not contain all the information required to reproduce a garment.
Furthermore, two different manufacturers using different machines, knitting programmes and yarns cannot guarantee perfectly identical results.
We can study a design, interpret its characteristics and develop a solution consistent with the customer's project, but technical feasibility and the final result must always be evaluated.
3. Wholesale Without Minimum Orders: Purchase Even a Single Product
This is probably one of the most interesting opportunities we offer professional customers.
Not everyone needs to order 50 sweaters or 100 accessories.
A boutique owner may want to assess our product quality before introducing the collection into their store. An online retailer may want to test customer demand. A new brand may not yet be ready to invest in custom manufacturing.
For these customers, we have created our B2B online store, accessible directly through the Due Toscani website.
How Does It Work?
Professional customers can request reseller access through our dedicated registration page:
https://duetoscani-cashmere.com/en/pages/become-a-reseller
Once their registration has been approved, they can access reserved wholesale prices and purchase available products directly.
There is no minimum order quantity.
You can order one beanie, two scarves, a neck warmer or a selection of different products.
You do not need to purchase a predefined assortment or entire packs of the same item.
Why Have We Chosen This Approach?
Because we know that, especially when starting a business, the challenge is not simply finding a good product.
It is being able to test that product without tying up too much capital.
With an indicative investment of €50–€100, depending on the selected items, you can already start exploring several products from our collection.
You can personally evaluate their quality, show them to your customers, photograph them for your online store and discover which designs and colours perform best.
Only after testing market demand do you need to decide whether to increase your purchases or develop a private label collection.
Products Without Our Brand Label
Another important feature is that products available through our online store are supplied without the Due Toscani commercial brand label attached to the garment.
Mandatory composition, care and origin labels are included.
This allows resellers to add their own commercial labels after receiving the products, if they wish.
For individual purchases made through our website, we do not offer a personalised label application service. Customers can arrange this themselves after delivery.
This is an important distinction between purchasing ready-to-ship products and ordering private label manufacturing.
4. Dropshipping: Sell Made in Italy Cashmere Without Holding Inventory
Another option is dropshipping, designed primarily for online stores and retailers who want to sell our products without purchasing stock in advance.
The process is straightforward.
The retailer lists our products on their own website or through their sales channels.
When they receive an order from a customer, they purchase the item through our website, entering their customer's address as the delivery destination.
We prepare and ship the goods directly to the final customer.
What Are the Advantages?
The retailer does not need to:
- Purchase inventory in advance
- Rent or manage warehouse space
- Prepare and pack orders personally
- Organise the physical shipment to the final customer
This allows the retailer to focus on sales, marketing and customer relationships.
Neutral Shipping and Commercial Management
Our products do not carry the Due Toscani commercial brand label, and shipments are handled neutrally according to the service conditions.
The retailer maintains the commercial relationship with the final consumer, independently determines retail prices and manages customer service.
Payment to Due Toscani is made when placing the order, while B2B invoices are issued according to our administrative procedures.
Shipping costs are paid by the retailer and calculated according to the destination and order characteristics.
There is no minimum order quantity for dropshipping either.
This solution makes it possible to start selling Made in Italy cashmere accessories without making an initial investment in inventory.
5. Stock Service: Ready-to-Ship Products Without Waiting for Production
In the knitwear industry, there is an important difference between manufacturing a product to order and purchasing an item that is already available.
This is why we have developed our Stock Service.
It consists of a selection of products and accessories that we aim to keep available, subject to stock levels and replenishment.
These include ribbed beanies, scarves, neck warmers, gloves and other accessories in virgin and recycled cashmere, as well as selected knitwear designs.
The advantage is clear: customers can purchase available products without waiting for a new production cycle.
This service is particularly useful for:
- Boutiques needing to restock bestselling products quickly
- Retailers looking to expand their assortment
- Online stores working with small quantities
- Seasonal businesses requiring greater flexibility
- Emerging brands wanting to test market demand
Stock Service should not be confused with custom manufacturing: customers purchase the designs, colours and quantities actually available on our website.
6. Virgin Cashmere, Recycled Cashmere and Other Premium Fibres
The quality of a knitted garment begins long before manufacturing.
It begins with the yarn.
We primarily work with yarns sourced from selected Italian spinning mills, choosing materials suited to the technical and commercial requirements of each product.
Virgin Cashmere
Virgin cashmere is an ideal choice for customers seeking softness, fineness, lightness and premium positioning.
We use selected cashmere yarns to manufacture knitwear and accessories for customers who appreciate the quality of raw materials and careful craftsmanship.
Recycled Cashmere
Recycled cashmere is an important part of our business.
The textile tradition of Prato has historically been associated with fibre recovery and regeneration, representing a wealth of expertise that is particularly relevant to today's circular economy.
Recycled cashmere allows valuable fibres to be recovered and transformed into new yarns, reducing the need for virgin raw materials.
However, understanding its technical characteristics is essential.
Recovered fibres may be shorter on average than virgin fibres, requiring particular attention during spinning, knitting and finishing.
It is not simply a matter of replacing one yarn with another. Each material requires specific technical expertise.
For eligible products, we can provide information about traceability and certifications available through our partners, including GRS documentation where applicable.
Extrafine Merino Wool and Premium Blends
In addition to cashmere, we work with extrafine merino wool and selected blends, including merino wool and silk.
The choice depends on the desired result: structure, handle, fit, weight, intended use and price positioning.
There is no single yarn that is universally better for every garment. There is a yarn that is best suited to each specific project.
7. Manufacturing Entirely in Tuscany: Why It Matters to Us
Our production is organised within the Tuscan textile district, bringing together specialised expertise, machinery and manufacturing workshops.
We work with Shima Seiki electronic knitting machines, including conventional and Integral technologies, allowing us to develop different types of knitwear.
Our production network includes more than 60 machines across our internal capacity and partner workshops, with production schedules organised according to processing requirements and confirmed orders.
However, the real value is not simply the number of machines.
It is the ability to combine different skills: yarn selection, programming, knitting, garment assembly, washing, finishing and quality control.
Made in Italy Is More Than Just a Label
For us, it means knowing the people who manufacture our products, following the different stages of production and being able to intervene whenever a result needs to be corrected or improved.
It also means working in a region with a long tradition of textile fibre processing and knitwear manufacturing.
Direct oversight of the supply chain and proximity to our manufacturing partners allow us to maintain a close relationship with the production process.
8. Samples, Production Lead Times and Commercial Terms
Anyone working with a manufacturer needs to understand the operating conditions from the beginning.
That is why we aim to be transparent.
Samples
Samples of existing catalogue designs can be purchased under the applicable conditions.
For new custom designs, a technical development project must be initiated, including the corresponding development fee.
During peak production periods, particularly from September to December, new sample development is prioritised within confirmed production orders.
The most suitable period for developing new autumn/winter collections is generally between February and May.
Production Lead Times
For made-to-order manufacturing, indicative production lead times are normally 30–40 days from order confirmation, depending on the design, materials and time of year.
Actual delivery schedules are reviewed and confirmed when placing the order.
For products available through Stock Service, there is no need to wait for a new production cycle.
Payment Terms
For private label and made-to-order manufacturing, our standard payment terms are:
- 50% deposit upon order confirmation
- 50% balance when the goods are ready, before shipment
Shipping costs are not included in manufacturing prices and are quoted separately.
For purchases made directly through our website, payment is made at checkout using the available payment methods.
9. Which Solution Is Right for Your Business?
Not all customers have the same requirements, and this is precisely why we have developed different ways to work together.
If you own a fashion brand and want a personalised collection, you can choose designs from our catalogue or request development based on your own project. Our standard minimum is 50 pieces per design.
If you run a boutique and want to purchase Made in Italy cashmere products, you can register on our B2B website and buy available items directly, with no minimum order quantity.
If you are launching a new brand, you can begin by purchasing a few products to evaluate their quality and market response, then decide whether to move into private label manufacturing.
If you manage an e-commerce business and do not want to hold inventory, you can use our dropshipping service, allowing us to ship products directly to your customers.
If you are an established distributor or retailer, we can evaluate a supply programme together, selecting products and organising production according to your requirements.
10. More Than a Supplier: A Technical Manufacturing Partner
There is one final aspect we consider essential.
Behind every knitted garment are technical decisions that are not always immediately visible.
A sweater may look simple, but yarn count, machine gauge, stitch construction and finishing treatments can completely change the final result.
Experience also helps prevent costly mistakes.
That is why we do more than receive orders and manufacture garments. When working on a production project, we try to understand what the customer wants to achieve and assess how to manufacture it correctly.
At the same time, we distinguish ordinary commercial assistance from design, consulting and technical development activities, which require dedicated professional work.
We believe a successful business relationship should begin with clear expectations, transparent conditions and mutual respect.
11. How to Start Working With Due Toscani
The easiest way to get to know us is to start with our products.
You do not need to develop an entire collection immediately or commit to a large production order.
You can begin with a beanie, a scarf or a small selection of accessories, evaluate the quality and decide later how to develop our collaboration.

Due Toscani: Italian Knitwear, More Opportunities for Your Business
Our philosophy is simple: we do not expect every customer to work in the same way.
Some businesses need 500 customised sweaters. Others want to develop a collection from scratch. Others simply want to purchase three scarves to see whether their customers like them.
Different requirements deserve different solutions.
We provide our knitwear manufacturing experience, quality Italian yarns, Tuscan production expertise and a flexible commercial structure that allows customers to choose the approach that works best for them.
